Renaming audio files or changing their tag information takes too much time, especially when there is a significant number of files involved. A music collection will look better, in any media player, if your tracks are properly named and tagged. Music Files Batch can help you organize your music with only a few clicks. You can use its various functions to rename audio files, edit their ID3 tags, place them in separate folders and more.

Music Files Batch is freeware, but you will encounter a nag screen when you launch it. The setup file can be downloaded in a few seconds, due to its small size and the installation process is just as fast. It works on all modern Windows platforms and it does not require powerful hardware.

When you launch the software, you will find a simple interface, where you may add your music, organize it by genre, artist or album and play it. To process your music, you must switch to a different interface, by clicking an option, located in the upper left area of the first window. Once you add your files to a list, you can rename them, change their tag information or perform other tasks.

The options that Music Files Batch places at your disposal make it very easy to manipulate your files. Audio files often contain years or track numbers in their name, which can disorganize your playlist. In other cases, some names may start with the artist's name, while others start with the song's title. The software lets you solve these issues instantly. You just need to select the files in question and click different options, located on the lower part of the interface, to remove their track numbers, years or swap the artist's name with the song's title. Additionally, you may update the file names with information from their ID3 tags.

It is possible to execute the aforementioned updating action in reverse as well. The ID3 tags can be edited in the same area, where you can find an option to update them, with information from the file's name. Other options allow you to remove specific strings from the names or fix their syntax. Music Files Batch makes it possible to locate and eliminate duplicates as well. This feature is particularly useful, because it is not limited to identifying duplicate files. When you select this option, the software will show you all tracks which are similar to a selected file and it will play a small fragment from each of them, so you can make sure they are actually duplicates or not.

Pros

You can instantly rename audio files, just by clicking a few options. It is possible to use tag information to update file names, arrange tracks in separate folders, find and eliminate duplicates and more. The software is free and you can install it on your computer in a few moments.

Cons

Any changes you make will be applied instantly, even when removing files. Besides that, when launching the software, a nag screen will keep you waiting for a certain amount of time, which gets longer each time you run it. With Music Files Batch, your entire music collection will be categorized in different folders and properly named and tagged and you can make sure that it does not contain any duplicates.
